Stirling and District Schools Pipe Band, held their premier concert at the Albert Hall late last month to much acclaim and success. The evening, hosted by local boy Craig Muirhead, kicked off the start of, what is hoped, will be another amazing season for the band. Joined on stage by special guests which included pipes and drums from Grade 1 band Scottish Power and leading light in the Gaelic music scene, Allan MacDonald, composer of the Brice 700, the band raised the roof and had the audience asking for more. The drum fanfare was particularly breath taking!
A spokesperson for the band said, “The members of the band were true professionals and the performance superb. As a self-funding organisation nights like this are invaluable, and to see the reaction of the audience is validation of the commitment and dedication of each individual and the collective team. We couldn’t be prouder.”
A selection of band members will soon be accompanying other musicians out to Germany to perform the Bruce 700 in Hofheim am Taunus near Franfurt am Main.
