Alongside our newly recruited members to the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland we also have band members who are moving up from the Development Band to the the Senior Band within the NYPB. This remains the ultimate goal for many. Our tenor drummer Eilidh Wynd is one such talented person.
When asked about her time in the NYPB so far, Eilidh commented, “ Getting into the senior band has been a long term goal of mine ever since I started drumming. It gives me the opportunity to play a different style of music with people from across Scotland. Every experience I have had from being in the development band has been incredible and I have pushed myself to improve my skills. I am so grateful to everyone who has encouraged me to succeed in my drumming; family, friends, band members and especially my drumming tutor. I am really looking forward to playing with the senior band and all the challenges I will face.”
The repertoire of the Senior Band is selected and arranged by the members themselves and often includes many of their own compositions. Their aim is to produce the highest quality pipe band music while providing a “wow” factor for their audience.
We have no doubt that Eilidh will rise to this challenge and excel.
Well done Eilidh – we are all super proud of you!
